A new date has been set for the trial of former DUP leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson and his wife Lady Eleanor Donaldson, who both face charges relating to alleged historical sex offences.

At Newry Crown Court on Friday, Judge Paul Ramsey confirmed that all parties involved will “work towards” a trial start date of 3 November. The update comes after the court was informed that Mrs Donaldson is still receiving medical treatment.

The trial had initially been scheduled to begin in March, but was postponed due to her medical condition.
Jeffrey Donaldson, aged 62, was not present at the hearing. He has pleaded not guilty to 18 alleged offences.
