Larkin was convicted of attempted rape and also sentenced for unrelated drug offences, including:

He received a four-year sentence, consisting of two years in custody and two years on licence. Additionally:
He will be placed on the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely A Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) has been imposed for five years
Detective Inspector Moffett issued a strong statement, emphasizing the seriousness of the offence:
“If someone is heavily intoxicated or sleeping, they cannot consent to sexual activity. Make no mistake: this is rape… Larkin completely disregarded the victim’s right to give consent and, as a result, he is now in prison where he belongs. This is predatory behaviour that is totally unacceptable.”
DI Moffett also urged victims of sexual crime to come forward:
“It is never your fault and you have nothing to feel ashamed about. We will work hard for justice for you.”
An anonymous statement from the victim was released following the sentencing:
“I am proud of myself for fighting my way to justice. After over two years I have been vindicated… I hope more victims will come forward knowing justice is possible. It is not our shame to carry. My life has been on hold and I can now begin to look forward.”
