Erick ten Hag has been sacked as Manchester United’s manager following a 2-1 defeat at West Ham. Sitting at 14th place in the English Premiership, the club have had one of their worst starts to season. United are sitting 7 points above the relegation zone and have only registered one win from their past five top-flight matches.
Informing Ten Hag on Monday Morning of their decision to let him go, Manchester United’s board and owners felt there were no excuses for the performances on the pitch.
STATEMENT FROM MANCHESTER UNITED
Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.
