Incidents of fly tipping are on the rise in Kilmorey park area of Newry. The council owned play park and green space on Cowan Street has become a dumping ground for some over the past number of weeks.

One local resident spotted fresh evidence of fly tipping this morning with multiple black bags of household waste being witnessed on the banks of the park.

Local representatives have urged the culprits to cease this practice immediately as they can avail of weekly bin collections and the facilities of the Household Recycling Centre located on Chapel Road.
Fly tipping is not only a crime but it can cause numerous environmental issues along with the added risk of attracting vermin to an area feet away from where children are playing.

If you witness any incidents of fly tipping please report this information to the NM&D Council’s Enforcement Team.
