Officers from the elite Interceptor Unit based in Sprucefield, working in close coordination with colleagues in Newry, were carrying out routine patrols when they spotted a man acting suspiciously in the heart of the city. The suspect, upon noticing the police presence, bolted, sparking a tense pursuit through the busy streets.
After a short but intense chase, the suspect was brought to the ground and detained. Upon search, police recovered a significant quantity of suspected Class B drugs.
The man, already well known to police, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply — the second such arrest in just three days.
