
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fire at a derelict building in Newry.

Sergeant Neill said: “A report was received at approximately 9.15pm yesterday, Sunday 30th March, of a small fire on the first floor of the building in the Merchants Quay area of the city.
“Officers’ attended the scene, alongside colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who extinguished the blaze.
“We’re treating this report as deliberate ignition, with enquiries continuing. Some damage was caused to the property as a result of the fire.
