Kilmorey Park situated in the Church Street area of Newry has once again fallen prey to fly tipping. The council owned play park and green space on Cowan Street has become a dumping ground for some over the past number of weeks.

This week residents have spotted fresh evidence of fly tipping with multiple black bags of household waste and rolls of carpet being witnessed on the banks of the park.

Local representatives have urged the culprits to cease this practice immediately as they can avail of weekly bin collections and the facilities of the Household Recycling Centre located on Chapel Road.

Fly tipping is not only a crime but it can cause numerous environmental issues along with the added risk of attracting vermin to an area feet away from where children are playing.

If you witness any incidents of fly tipping please report this information to the NM&D Council’s Enforcement Team.
