
St Mary’s Burren was founded in 1924 with a vision to foster a love of gaelic football within the local community, to build a place where talent could be nurtured and to create a legacy that would stand the test of time.
Over the past century Burren has become more than just a club; it has become a family.

Over 500 members and friends of the Burren family descended on the Canal Court Hotel in Newry recently to celebrate 100 years of existence and success of the club which has been a cornerstone of the community of all those years. A special night of glitz and glamour ensued with evening compere Gerry Donnelly keeping the crowd in good humour throughout the night.

Guest speakers included club Chairperson, Donal Murdock, Ulster LGFA Chairperson, Gerry Doherty, Ulster GAA Chairperson, Ciaran McLaughlin, Down GAA Chairperson John Devaney and GAA President Jarlath Burns.

The hard working Gala Ball Committee left no stone unturned to produce a night of craic, celebration and fun for everyone who attended the fantastic Millers suite at the Canal Court Hotel.

The Sam Maguire cup was also on show and was brought to the stage by former Burren and Down Captain and Manager, Paddy O’Rourke along with current Armagh and Burren senior footballer Paddy Burns.
